okay so ima gonna blame julia for dragging me into this cool contest. Its a design contest, Michelle Czajowski, the author of Ava’s Demon is holding up. I created a demon representing seasickness, hence her name, Nauseo, which i believe is “sea sick” in latin. Her hair is made of souls that she collects by using the amulet on her chest, making the souls take shape of fishes. When she died and became attached to a Host, she lost all of her hair, becoming bald, embarassed and enraged.
EDIT: i was bit unhappy with the text so i fixed some things//added the host that i drew alongside with the demon, felt like why not.

posting this from town where it didn’t reach! so far haven’t heard about anyone getting hurt, lots of people helping out in the communities that got hit, also a lot of people didn’t stock up on supplies like ice and stuff; perishables. Tons of guys working to get the fallen trees cleared and the power back on, so shout out to those guys! I’m gonna take some pictures of what it did to some of our subdivision and post it later when we get back our electricity and Internet.

sorry, been busy, electricity has been restored in most of the affected areas I think. My Dad and a number of firefighters came down from the Pohakuloa fire station and volunteered to help Hawaii electric light company (or Helco) clear trees from the roads and power lines. (for those of you who don’t know, the affected area is/was most of Puna, Pohakuloa fire station is pretty much on the other side of the island!)

My dad had to bring my sister a generator (to borrow) because parents where still bringing their kids to here daycare despite the storm (like, Really guys!? how is “a hurricane hit and most of the power’s out, people are worried about food spoiling/running out, and water running out and I’m gonna drop my kid(s) off at a daycare so the daycare provider has to worry about that stuff even more, plus watching my kid” a good idea!?).
My sister hooked it up to her fridge so the food wouldn’t spoil, and let friends/neighbors know that if they needed phones charged or they had food they didn’t want to spoil, to bring it over and that when stuff was done charging or they needed any of the food they brought to come back over when they needed it. Though later on when my parents decided I was going back home with them, to Kohala (see map above), on account of me getting sick, some piece of absolute garbage tried to steal the generator in broad daylight! while my sister was home, too! luckily my sister has a sweet, but very scary pitbull that didn’t like some sketchy stranger creeping in his backyard and decided to corner him until the police came to pick him up. (seriously though, what kind of douche tries to steal from a daycare!? protective, cuddly pitbulls for the win!)
I heard some other accounts of dirtbags robbing people, and threatening people at gun point, including Helco workers who are the guys trying to fix everything!! Even one of my mom’s friends, this nice older lady who isn’t in the best shape called my mom up crying because some guys had come into her yard and were looking into her house with flashlights, likely trying to see if she had valuables for them to take. She threatened to call the cops and they laughed, that is, until the cops actually showed up and they scattered.
I was so mad about that since we had been helping her the day before, despite me being sick, making sure she had water and helping her with her animals. My parents had given her a generator too, from their house, it was smaller, but it was mostly to run her sleeping machine, it regulates her breathing I guess? my parents said if she sleeps on her back without it she wouldn’t be able to breath on her own, and sleeping upright in a chair wasn’t doing her good (again,super mad at awful people for picking on such a frail old woman! absolutely shameful!). Her power is back on now, and she’s feeling a lot better now about everything, which I’m glad.
And if some of that negative stuff I talked about left a sour taste in your mouth, and disappointment for the behavior of your fellow man, here are some of the amazing things that people did for the community: some local tow truck guys drove to the other side of the island to get ice for people before the military stepped in and started handing it out at the community center at the top of our subdivision near Keonepoko elementary school, some locals also got together and made tons of nice, hot, spaghetti and drove around handing it out to people. Produce trucks came down the subdivision, down every street and passed out fresh fruit, vegetables, bottled water, and small bags of ice. Some random locals did the same thing, went house to house asking if people needed food, water, or ice and handed stuff out too!
Our neighbors even told us when we came down to our old house (it’s old and busted and we’re trying to fix it so we can move back in) that when the trees started falling and they heard the one tree fall on our house, they ran over with flashlights to make sure I was ok, even though I’ve been staying with my sister and only go there to feed and take care of the animals my mom hasn’t brought to their house in Kohala yet. I thanked them for worrying enough to check that I was okay, even though I wasn’t there.
My dad has cut up the tree that fell on our house and there was, thankfully, no damage to the roof. cleaning up the parts he sawed off is what’s been keeping me busy lately.
And finally, I unfortunately lost the pictures I took of the damage from the first couple of days with the death of my phone’s screen, I can’t get any of the pictures from my phone back, though my sister said she took a video, just waiting for her to upload it. Hopefully she’ll do it soon before I’m to busy with college to add it for you guys.
